Christmas 2008

Merry Christmas to all of you. We are home again after having a wonderful holiday with family and friends. The girls are currently playing with all of their new gifts and the noise is bareable despite the fact that most of the gifts have musical sounds. Carter is napping and is recovering from some lack of sleep.

Christmas Program

Last Sunday, despite the rain turning to snow, the girls participated in the annual church Christmas program. Hailey and Taylor both did excellent jobs in singing, smiling, and not making a scene of any kind to humble their parents.

The Miedema's were host to the resident Christmas party this year. About 35 residents and family members came to the Miedema home for evening of food, drink, and rock band. The party went well be most people's account and a good time seemed to be had by all.

Snow

These guys decided to take a rest on our street last week after some snow had fallen. I heard some "honking" and it was louder than normal so I looked out my front window and there they all were. Odd.

We did some family shoveling after one of the snow falls last week and Carter loved it. He is not walking yet so he just crawls at incredible speeds through the snow after the sled and after Mike's shovel. One might mistake him for a dog.

Potty Trained?

I hesitate to announce that Taylor is POTTY TRAINED! I have now had two children in diapers for just over one year. It all started last week Monday when Taylor suddenly became aware of the fact that her best friends Kylie and Jaclyn were wearing panties. She went right to her drawer and picked out panties and kept them dry all day. She had 2 accidents in the first three days and has also slept dry the past two nights---wow! I would have to say that we are far from allowing her to be in charge and we make her sit on the potty about every hour and a half, but I'll take it. Great job Taylor, I was really hoping to get this done before her 3rd birthday at the end of this month.

Christmas Baking

I'm pretty sure that the girls enjoyed this experience, but it was so hard for me to look past the sprinkles on the floor, the licking, the double dipping. They were very proud of the results......tis the season.
