Grandpa Turns 60!

Happy Birthday Grandpa! We are so glad we got to celebrate with you.

Yeah! Wedding dress shopping with Auntie Ginnie! Above you see the little girls; they made it a half hour of wedding dress shopping then opted to go back to the hotel to swim.

Love/Hate

I'm finding that the relationship between sisters can be love/hate at a very young age. Sometimes it can switch in seconds and back again seconds later. Hailey and Taylor.

Carter is the exception to the love/hate at this time. He gets all love from the girls. They still fight over holding him, even though he wants nothing to do with being held these days.

Mike is 30

Happy Birthday Mike! He turned the big 3-0 on Wednesday. We surprised him with a new bike for his birthday. He was really surprised. I didn't think that it would be fair for just him to go biking with the kids so I did throw in a bike for myself and a bike cart for the little tykes. We hope to get tons of miles out of them for years to come.

1st Day of Kindergarten

Hailey started kindergarten today! Many of you know that we are not morning people at the Miedema house, so an 8:55 start time was just about right today. It took us about 20 minutes to get to school, but I need to try different routes to deal with the morning traffic. Hailey acted like all was normal and cool about the process, but was glad that I walked her in to help her find her seat and back-pack spot.
I had to drag Taylor out of the classroom crying because she wanted to stay. After a teary ride home I'm starting to realize that school is just going to be the new "normal" for our family. Carter will get used to the morning routine of an early morning car ride. Taylor of course took advantage of the situation by insisting that she sit in Hailey's car seat on the way home.
I'm sure that Hailey will be loving every minute.

This is Hailey and her friend Julia that she knows from church. Hailey's class has 23 students in it. Her teacher is Mrs. Johnson and also has a aide each day. Hailey's schedule is all day Monday, Wednesday, Friday. Today she asked "Will it be bedtime right after I get home from school?"
The night before the 1st day of kindergarten I told Hailey to get all scrubbed up in the bath tub. What I didn't know was that after you soap up three kids and then put the jets on in the tub it turn into a massive foam pool. Hailey was loving it. I had to remove Carter because I thought I would loose him.

My Blue Eyed Boy

I'm not sure that I have ever addressed this before, but Carter has smokey blue eyes that are just so pretty. I just really kept thinking that they would change because of how brown the girls' eyes are and because neither Mike or I have blue eyes. Grandma Shar says that he gets it from his great-grandpa Herman???
He is now all over the place crawling and usually with a big string of drule hanging from his chin. He has some sharp teeth!
